swamp woman

Sometimes I take a shower when I get home from work, before bed.

The other night, I did just this.
Here is the conversation Dallin and I had when I climbed into bed.

Dallin: You know what you look like when you fall asleep with your hair wet and wake up in the morning?
Me: What?
Dallin: A swamp person.
Me: Um... what?
Dallin: Yeah, your hair is everywhere, and you look like you crawled out of a swamp.

I'm so glad he loves me despite what I look like in the morning.

Hermana Laursen

Brooke, Mike and I at graduation 2008.

Brooke's farewell was today, and I am so gosh darn excited and proud of her.
She leaves for Uruguay a week from Wednesday, and I just know she'll be thee best missionary.

Her and I have been in the same ward since I can remember and I just live for her one-liners.
We've had some great times at girl's camps and other ward activities.

One of my favorite memories with her was when she asked Mike and I if we wanted to split a fry (singular) with her at Leatherbys.

I am gonna miss how fast she talks and our temple trips.
Love her so much. Good luck Brookie!

thank you hunger games

Dallin and I have divulged in some good Hunger Game reading lately.
I may or may not read a few chapters to him at night before we go to sleep.
Makes me happy.

Yesterday, I got to see my family for a bit.
Spent some time outside again and loved every inch of sun.

Denying the fact that this little man and his parents will be moving soon..

Sunday

In my opinion, is the best day of the week.
I live for Sundays.
Yesterday was extra special, because I got to celebrate my pop.
Over the weekend, we spent time with Dallin's dad and mine.

We feel so lucky to have such fantastic fathers.

Gosh. I love this pic.
My dad is a great grandpa.

My nephew loves his dad too.

dear dad

My pop is my hero.

I love how the house shakes when he sneezes.
I love how he eats a bowl of oatmeal every morning before his shower.
I love his love for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, caramel popcorn, peanut m&ms, naked juices and cadbury eggs.
I love his testimony and knowledge of the gospel.
I love that he works so hard to support our family.
I love that he made us sweep the streets growing up, when we got in trouble.
I love that he and my mom taught us how to work hard.
I love his love for my mom.
I love him for all he has done and continues to do for Dallin and I.
I love that one of his most priced possessions is a family of stuffed animals monkeys.
I love seeing him zip down the street in his mini coop.
I love that he always has the new hip music, and always has.
I love how he can still do back and front flips on the tramp at his ripe young age.
I love that he watches the housewives shows with me.
I love our shopping trips.
I love that he works out constantly and can run circles around me.
I love our love for Sunday naps and walks.
I love how he honors his priesthood.
I love that he takes such good care of his salsa box, pumpkin, raspberry, tomato, and squash gardens.
I love that he helped me pick up the pieces when I needed him most.
I love that he knows what to say to make me feel better.
I love that I get to be his daughter.

Plain and simple. I love you dad.
Happy Father's Day.

Terrific Thursday

Had the whole day off yesterday.
I thoroughly enjoyed some time to relax and start The Hunger Games. Yes please.
Also spent some time at my parent's house and soaked up a little bit of sun.

Dallin came home from work and we met up with my cousin, Nick, for a grand game of miniature golf.
Rounded up to be an overall wonderful day off.

Sunset was fantastic last night.

They gave Dallin the biggest putter they had.
It was baby-sized compared to him.

Horrifying monkey on the course.

It was a bit windy.

Love the big guy.

I was told to pose.

There was a free movie ticket on the line for the winner.
Nick ended up beating Dallin on the last hole.
Good game fellas.

Dino

When D and I were dating, he used to roar at me when he would furiously tickle me.
I would scream in between laughs and do anything to get him to stop.

One day, my cousin Marissa was over and she said that he sounded like a baby t-rex.
After that day, it stuck.

We are odd. I am aware.

This week

has been a wild one.
Dallin and I saw Super 8 last night with Erin, and actually quite liked it.

Work has been going really well.
Getting more comfortable each new day.

Before work on Wednesday, Dallin had to go to a meeting with his dad in Lehi.
So.. I got to hang out with this sweet little guy for a few hours.

Youngest lil' brother-in-law.

Happy Weekend :)

two in one day..

Both our vehicles decided to be difficult today.
I just love car problems. Not.

Grateful for husband.
Grateful for my mama who picks us up and gives us rides like we're kids again.
Grateful for a place to live.
Grateful for the gospel.
I need to remember not to sweat the small stuff.

Because we really do live such a good life.

hello, my name is lauryn. i'll be serving you tonight.

Work is good.
I really enjoy it now that I've finally gotten the hang of things.

I got some love from some familiar faces on Saturday.
Dallin wrangled up some friends and came in for some grub right after my parents came in to eat with Jackson.
It was fantastic.

Dallin even left a little note on his receipt for me.
Part of it said, "Call me." Followed by his phone number.
He thought he was so funny.
The great thing about it, is those receipts all go to my boss.

Today was Gabe's blessing. Love him so much.
I'm very much a doting auntie.
I can't help it.

golfing and fires

Dallin talked me into going golfing with him after I got home from work last night.
It was windy, but he totally had me when he said I could drive the gold cart.
I had a blast chauffeuring him around.
We may have had a few scares when I took a corner much too sharp or hit a giant hole going way too fast.
But, we survived.

We also went and had a fire with a group of my dear friends.
I spent the whole time laughing and enjoying the company of some great people.

I'm sure glad it's finally summer.
